Factual investigations have been conducted on behalf of major insurers, law firms and loss adjusters in the area of fire investigation. Our past experience and knowledge in the areas of insurance and criminal law have seen many fire investigations lead to the identification of offenders or circumstances which have permitted underwriters to seek recovery or deny liability due to non disclosure issues or fraud.

What is involved in a factual investigation?

Factual Investigation also known as Circumstance Investigations or Case Assessments, are intended to ascertain the facts - whether an insurance claim, commercial issue or employment situation.  Signed statements are obtained from witnesses, supervisors and other persons with information of interest. Documentary evidence, contracts and workplace minutes are collated and analysed. Accident scenes are appraised and photographed. Detailed reports on the circumstances, supported by statements, photographs and relevant documents are provided to the client. Insurers and corporate clients use this report to make an initial determination, and to brief solicitors on the factual history of the case.
